Courgette

Courgettes have high water content and are a comparably low calorie vegetable. They have not been shown to be rich source of any specific vitamin or mineral, however they can contain helpful amounts of B vitamins, vitamin A, and the minerals manganese, potassium, phosphorus and zinc.
Potassium is a helpful mineral for restoring electrolyte balance and through offsetting the activities of excessive sodium, it can help maintain healthy blood pressure.

Natural sources of water, such as that found in the courgette and other fruits and vegetables, are effective sources of hydration for the body. In the case of the courgette, the high water content also contributes to bulking the food making it an excellent food for those aiming to reduce calorie intake. The skin of courgettes is considered a very good source of dietary fibre contributing to a healthy colon.

The yellow skinned courgettes contain beta carotene which can be converted to vitamin A which is especially helpful for keeping skin looking healthy and vibrant. Fresh courgettes also contain vitamin C which is invaluable for optimum health.
