Tui Cover Crop
Lupin Seed

Available sizes: 1kg
(1kg covers approximately 30 square metres)

Planting lupin in your garden is a quick and economical way to suppress weeds and replace lost nutrients, especially nitrogen, in soil.

Plant in autumn to grow through winter and mulch back into the soil in late winter/early spring.

Lupin has a similar effect to mulch on soil; it improves soil structure, fertility and micro-organism activity. Once dug back into the soil, the broken down organic matter helps to provide optimal soil conditions for spring planting.

Benefits

  • Adds nitrogen to soil.
  • Improves soil structure and micro-organism activity.
  • Suppresses weeds.
  • Easy to sow.
  • Fast growing.

Directions for use

1. Apply 30 grams per square metre of soil.

2.  Dig into the soil when the cover crop reaches approximately 50 cm and before they have flowered. Do this 4-6 weeks prior to planting your vegetable garden.

For optimum results sow lupin and mustard seed together. Apply at a rate of three parts lupin to one part mustard.
