IN FOCUS: GRAPEFRUIT
Generally speaking, grafted cultivars purchased from nurseries will give the best growth results over plants raised from seed. Grapefruit make great container plants, providing they get plenty of Tui Citrus Food as they are heavy feeders.
Storage tips:
Grapefruit don't ripen well off the tree.
The fruit can stay on the tree for as long as it takes you to use up the crop.
Don't be fooled by skin discoloration, scratches and watermarks on grapefruit skin - it doesn't have to be perfect to taste good.
The fragrance and flesh of grapefruit remains for longer when fruit is stored at room temperature rather than a refrigerator.
NUTRITIONAL FACTS: GRAPEFRUIT
Grapefruit are delicious and juicy, they contain nutrients that can naturally curb our appetite and contribute to optimum health. They are a high fiber fruit with plenty of pectin in the white pith of the fruit. It is the pectin that is able to absorb toxins in our digestive system and naturally sweep them out of our digestive system. Alongside being loaded with vitamin C, Grapefruit are an excellent source of calcium, folic acid, phosphorus and potassium.

In the first year or so after planting most citrus plants will benefit from the removal of fruit that sets to allow your tree to establish itself and encourage better fruiting in the second season. |
