Q.
Hi Tui, I would like to plant a Protea either in a Pot or the ground. Do I use a fertiliser and what precautions do I need to take in terms of the weather? Your advice is always greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

Hi Frank, proteas require a fertiliser that has low or no phosphorus (P) as they are able to extract phosphorus from the soil. Tui Performance Naturals liquid fertilisers have no phosphorus so are suitable for proteas. Alternatively, Tui Sheep Pellets are also low in phosphorus.

Any advice on planting proteas? Comments
The general advice is to fertilize very sparingly with a low Phosphorus fertilizer.
