Hi Tui, I have been growing potatoes in large pots using a mixture of compost and potting mix. Can I regenerate this mix to use again? Also when are seed potatoes available?

Hi Graham,

Seed potatoes are available in garden and DIY stores now. Allow the potatoes to sprout for approximately a month before planting.

As nutrients have been used from the soil in the previous potato growing season, you will need to replenish the soil and replace these nutrients. We would suggest mixing in some fresh compost and sheep pellets and adding Tui Vegetable Mix to give your potatoes the best start.

Once planted ensure you feed your potatoes regularly which a fertiliser that is suitable for use in pots such as Tui NovaTec Premium fertiliser or select a suitable variety from the Tui Enrich range.
