Q.

How can I cure an unwell peach tree due to curly leaf?

Melissa

A.

Curly leaf can't be controlled at this time of year (spring). To treat it spray in the winter with a clean-up fungal spray over several weeks. You can expect your plant will naturally shed its leaves over summer, due to curly leaf, and it is likely new leaves will appear. At the end of the season, remove all of the foliage as the plant sheds it leaves.

  • Should I use Seaweed and Fish fertiliser on my 3 year old Michelia Lemon tree hedge just planted from pots? They are getting some yellow leaves here and there despite regular watering...

    • Yes, although seaweed can be applied more regularly – every 7 days until the tree picks up and apply Seaweed + Fish every 4 weeks (apply less often as it is a fertiliser). Michelia are like camellias and azaleas, they like slightly acid soil conditions and a cool moist root run, so apply mulch (Tui Mulch & Feed) around them to help conserve soil moisture and keep the roots cool and moist.
